The Lahore Fort, locally known as Shahi Qila in lahore and all over pakistan and in some countries of Asia, is recognition of the Lahore city in Punjab, Pakistan. Total area covered by Shahi qila is around 20 hectares and is located in the north-western corner of the Walled City of Lahore.
It is considered as an antique in class of buildings, any how the existing base structure of Shahi qila was built during (1556–1605) when Akbar was Mughal emperor, and was regularly renovated by upcoming rulers, having thirteen gates in total. However, it was started to built in 800 B.C. Therefore the fort reflects the rich traditions of Mughal architecture. Some of the famous sites inside the fort include:
Alamgiri Gate,
Sheesh Mahal,
Naulakha pavilion,
Moti Masjid.

In 1981, Along with the Shalimar Gardens, the fort was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
During the excavation carried out in 1959 by the Department of Archaeology, a gold coin of Mahmood Ghazni was found in front of Diwan-e-Aam at 7.62 metres depth from the level of the lawns. Cultural layers continued to a further depth of 5 metres, giving strong prrofs that people had lived there, long before the conquest of Lahore by Mahmood. Further fort is traceable to Shahab-ud-din Muhammad Ghuri's successive invasions of Lahore. The structure of Shahi qila is dominated by Persian influence. If you ever visit lahore you must go to shahi qila and visit it's beauty inside out.
Shahi qila is divided into two sections: first the administrative section, which is well connected with main entrances, and consist of larger garden areas and Diwan-e-Aam for royal audiences. The second section is divided into courts in the northern part.
